APPLICATIONS ENGINEERING (AUTOMOTIVE DIVISION)

Job Summary:

The Applications Engineering role will involve planning, managing, and developing custom automation solutions for the Promation Automotive division. This role requires a highly motivated individual with integrated engineering problem solving capabilities, project management skills, and a general business aptitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and understanding customer technical requirements
  • Proposal development planning
  • Managing a proposal development team including Promation subject matter experts
  • Developing concepts for custom automation solutions
  • Understanding, defining, and managing technical risk
  • Sourcing and managing “best-in-class” third party suppliers through the proposal phase
  • Traveling to customer sites to review current manufacturing practices/solutions and presenting technical proposals
  • Developing cost models for proposed solutions including estimates for labour and purchase items
  • Presenting solutions and costing to senior management for approvals
  • Participation in sales strategy development, working with the Promation sales team
  • Implementing sales strategies jointly with our sales team, including developing presentation materials
  • Writing technical proposals
  • Meet and exceed specified annual dollar sales targets
  • Develop and maintain an active sales funnel of potential clients and prospects by leveraging multiple sources to identify and qualify potential clients such as cold-calling, personal and professional networks, contacts with existing or prospective clients etc.
  • Develop strategic sales and marketing plans (capture plans) for each account and prospective client in conjunction with overall segment and organizational objectives
  • Engage with the client on technical level to understand the client’s specific requirements and then in turn be able to present viable solutions
  • Present recommendations on bids to senior management team
  • Act as first level customer liaison in all customer/company transactions and maintain high level of customer satisfaction
  • Maintain high level of customer satisfaction through direct contact and coordination of internal company resources
  • Ensure that Promation is consistently positioned as the leader and premier automation, integration, and manufacturing company within North America

 

Requirements:

  • College or University Graduate with an Engineering Diploma or Degree
  • Minimum 5 years of Electrical or Mechanical Design experience or Applications Engineering experience in Automation, Machine Building
  • Self-Starter, superior communication skills (including experience with negotiations), robotics, and presentation skills
